Seeds for Kids opened a Food and Taste School with the funding of Kensington and Chelsea Borough from the 13th of JUne to the 1st of July 2022. We saw 5 Primary schools welcoming 348 pupils: 117 out of 348 children had tried spinach for the first time and 194 had tried passionfruit for the first time. Only 6 children did not want to try new food.
“The experience was fantastic. The children loved trying food using their smell and taste first. The leaders of the session were very professional and knew exactly how to work with the children. We were very impressed with the whole session.” Eli Y2 teacher.
“Very well organised. Speakers were very good and always had educational points. They engaged with the children and kept them motivated throughout. Such a lovely opportunity. Thank you. We would like them to have tried even more unusual foods that their palette might not have been used to.” Gemma Y4 teacher.
A typical week would include workshops, seminar for parents, hosting school assemblies, activities and competitions for the children and prize-giving.
